Participating in any sport as a representative of your country is a great honour and privilege, and Clay Pigeon Shooting is no different. There are different forms of regulated competition in clay pigeon shooting called disciplines.
The England National Team is comprised of athletes participating in many sports, including Automatic Ball Trap (ABT), Down The Line (DTL), English Skeet (ESK), English Sporting (ESP), FITASC Sporting (FSP), Olympic Skeet (OSK), and Olympic Trap (OTR).
England selects teams for each discipline to represent the country in Home International Events on an annual basis. England also has the chance to participate in a World Event in ‘Down The Line’ and ‘English Sporting’.
A comprehensive selection procedure has been implemented to ascertain the England team for each respective field. The selection process for each field exhibits modest variations, as does the squad size.
In every discipline, there will invariably be selection shooting, wherein the individuals who submit the highest scores will be chosen to join the squad. The selection shootings for DTL and ESP can also serve as a means to select teams for European and World Events.
